Mark Salcedo's Studio
Piano Instruction
Miscellaneous Information
Practice: Consistent practice is vital to the success of piano study. Students are expected to practice their assigned lesson daily and record their practice times. Parents are asked to keep the practice time free from distraction and interruption. Depending upon age, beginners should practice 15-25 minutes a day and work up to 3+ hours per week. Intermediate and advanced
students should expand this schedule in proportion to the repertoire. Lessons may be terminated when a student fails to make satisfactory progress due to lack of preparation or frequent absences.

The Spring Recital is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, May 23 and 24, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Recital performance is not required, but students are strongly urged to participate. To share talent and musical ability affords a student exposure to public participation and encourages self-confidence, poise, and self assurance in the ability to face other challenges along life's pathways. It also exposes other major repertoire they would not be aware of otherwise.
Festivals & Events: The National Piano Guild Auditions will give each student the opportunity to attain certification and membership, and strive for ever-increasing goals in repertoire material. National Federation of Music Club's Saturday Festival awards Gold Cups and introduces
compositions by American Composers. All students will be encouraged to participate in these events, but especially our more advanced students.

Additional material will be used to supplement the Bastien lessons, including modern, contemporary, and classical (baroque, classical, romantic periods) music.
